SETTINGS BEFORE INSTALLATION
Activate SNMP service
To use the SNMP service, you must adjust the following settings:
1. Open the window "Windows components" in "Start - Control
Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Add/Remove Windows
components" [XP] / "Start - Settings - Control Panel -
Add/Remove Programs - Add/Remove Windows
components" [2000].
2. Activate the option "Management and Monitoring Tools".
3. Click on "Next" and follow the instructions in the next
windows.
Activate FTP protocol
To use the FTP protocol, you must adjust the following settings:
1. Open the window "Windows components" in "Start - Control
Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Add/Remove Windows
components" [XP] / "Start - Settings - Control Panel -
Add/Remove Programs - Add/Remove Windows
components" [2000].
2. Mark "Internet Information Services (IIS)" and click on the
corresponding "Details" button.
3. Activate the option "File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Server". The
options "Common files" and "Internet Information Services
Snap-In" are automatically activated. When all three
services are activated, press "OK" to confirm.
4. Click on "Next" and follow the instructions in the next
windows.
Note: To use the FTP protocol, user accounts and
groups have to be setup. The procedure is described in
the chapter "Setting up user accounts". You also have
to set up an FTP directory with defaults. But this is done
after installation of RW-480 PLOTBASE and is
described in the chapter "Setting up the FTP standard
directory".
